Sophie King

Research Team 2017-18, Research Team 2018-19

Sophie is a Geography major at Dartmouth College who will be graduating in 2019. She has worked on this project during its first year.

As a former president of Planned Parenthood Generation Action at Dartmouth, and through internships in global health research and consulting (with a focus on family planning programs in Egypt and Uganda), Sophie has a particular interest in global women’s health.

For IMHER, Sophie specialized in identifying the former YALI Mandela program scholars at Dartmouth and elsewhere who have worked on projects pertaining to women’s health. She also started the work on the research database, with a particular focus on tracking down studies that pertain to MHM and schooling outcomes. About the MHM field, she notes, “I greatly admire the individuals spearheading projects in their own countries. They have accomplished a lot, especially given the resource constraints that many regularly face in doing their work.”
